More on Guzman

Following up on Dexys's post, here's a link to Barry Svrugla's valentine to Cristian today in the Post. Much is made of his performance after the first 13 games in which he batted .085. Thanks to David Pinto's awesome Day by Day Database, here's Guzman's line in the games since then:

BA OBA Slug% OPS
.317 .339 .433 .772

Pretty good, but with one troubling item -- walks. He had 2 during this stretch.

P.S. At some point I will have the ability to produce day-by-day data and charts for ERV stats like RV and WV. But I want to fix WV first.

The day-by-day database is very cool. Thanks for pointing out the site. I just wish it included OBP and SLG calculations in the report, or kicked it out in tab-delineated format so it would be simple to paste over into excel to handle it. I'd be curious to see OBP and/or SLG graphed for each player over time.

Speaking of graphs, you're probably already aware of this, but just in case not, Hardball Times has some nice graphs for NL East: http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/teams/nleast/
